Yuppie scum monday
A batch of vintage CBD Lapo - 2002-2005, Before the overdose. Before the features in Sartorialist/Vanity Fair/L’Uomo Vogue/Vogue that propelled him to international sartorial stardom. The rumours in the Italian Klatchpresse about him and his GF at that time being back together inspired me to look up some old pics of the ‘chicest’ man of the moment. The young professional, playboy, marketeer and trendsetter sported the II&IS uniform back in those days, and laid the foundations for what is now known as the UE look - or #menswear blogger look. In true elitist hipster spirit I have to admit that I like his earlier ‘work’ better than his current, highly idiosyncratic presentations. But I suppose that comes as no suprise to the long time milstil lurkers. Like his style or hate it, Mr Elkann is a barometer of men’s fashion and the difference between Lapo’s understated look pre O.D and the more flamboyant peacock getups he is currently known for clearly illustrates the shift from sprezzatura to terribilità. I wonder what will be next.
